Domestic violence

Domestic violence is violence within the household. It is an abuse of power which includes:

  • Threats of violence
  • Actual violence
  • Sexual violence
  • Emotional cruelty
  • Psychological and mental abuse
  • Stalking and rape

All councils have a statutory duty under current legislation to assist persons fleeing domestic violence.

In an emergency you can seek shelter in a refuge or Hounslow Homes can arrange temporary accommodation while they get more information. This may be followed by permanent accommodation.
