How to pay your rent

Did you know there are many different ways to pay your rent, garage rent, rechargeable repairs or former tenant arrears?

1. By Direct Debit through your bank/building society

The easiest way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit directly from your bank or building society account. If any adjustments to your rent charge are required we will inform you at least 10 days before the payment is taken from your account.

Payment of rent by direct debit must be monthly in advance. A one off payment of £35.00 will be credited to your rent account if you continue to pay by this method for at least 12 months. You cannot have arrears on your account if you are paying by direct debit.(If you are in arrears you can, however, pay by standing order) For a direct debit mandate, please contact Rent Accounts on 020 8583 3806 or contact the Customer Service Centre on 0800 085 6575.

2. By using the Online Payment Facility

You will need your rent account number and a debit or credit card in order to make your payment. The system is easy to use and there is a step by step guide to help you.

There is a £5000 limit if you pay by credit card. Debit card payments are unlimited, but the system will not accept payment by Visa Electron card. Please note that a 1.4% handling charge will apply.

3. By Telephone using credit/debit card

You can pay online by following the step by step details available or by phoning the 24 hour automated telephone payments system on 0845 30 10 210. Please note that a 1.4% handling charge will apply.

4. By payment card at any Post Office in the country

Just take your rent card and payment to the Post Office and tell the counter assistant how much you want to pay. This can be paid either by cash or cheque. Cheques must be made payable to Post Office Ltd.

5. By standing order through your bank/building society

This can be weekly or fortnightly or monthly.

For a standing order mandate, please contact Rent Accounts on 020 8583 3806 or pick up a mandate from your bank. You will need to quote the bank details of Hounslow Council which are:

NatWest Bank

sort code 60-11-18

account number 20364814

The address for the Hounslow branch of NatWest Bank is 275-277 High Street, Hounslow,TW3 1ZA

You must take the mandate to your bank and NOT return it to Hounslow Homes. Each time there are changes to your rent payment we will send you a new mandate which you must complete and take to your bank for the standing order to be set up.

If you continue to pay by this method for 12 months, we will credit your account with £25.

6. By cash or cheque at the Civic Centre

Visit the Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow between 9am to 5pm. Monday to Friday and use the document drop off point in reception. The post box is emptied twice a day. Cheques must be made payable to London Borough of Hounslow.
