Leaks

If you find a leak in your property, if you can, try to contain it by placing a bucket or something to catch the water underneath where the leak is coming from.

If you have a bad leak, you may need to turn off your water supply and turn on the taps to your sink/wash hand basin and bath this will help to drain any remaining water in the pipes (remember to turn them back off again).

If you can contain the leak, we will not carry out an emergency repair. Dripping taps into a sink or basin are not an emergency. If you live above someone else, try to contain the leak as much as possible to prevent damage to the property underneath you. Failure to report a leak which causes damage may result in the costs to carry out repairs being recharged to you.

If you live underneath another property and there is a leak coming through your ceiling, its very likely the person living there does not realise they have a leak, as the water may be travelling straight down to your home. The quickest way to remedy the situation is to speak to your nieghbour and politely let them know they have a leak. This way the problem will be rectified quickly, causing less damage.

If you do not feel you can speak to your neighbour, a polite note through their door would also be acceptable. Alternatively, contact the Customer Service Centre on 0800 085 65 75. We will try to contact them to arrange access, but in our experience the quickest way to solve the problem is for neighbours to speak to each other.

Roof Leaks

As roof leaks usually occur during bad weather, we cannot send a tradesperson up on your roof during high winds ro rain for safety reasons. If you report a leak from your roof we will send some one to inspect for damage as soon as the weather improves.

Reporting leaks

Water travels! so when you report a leak, try and give us as much information as possible to enable us to carry out your repair. Tell us:

  • where the water is coming from?
  • where the water is coming in to your home?
  • How long the leak has occured?
  • if coming through the roof or into a room from outside, does it only happen when it rains?

The more information you can tell us the better, as we will be able to send the right person to carry out a repair.

You can also report your repair online. Please be advised you should not use the Online Repairs Service to report an emergency repair.
