What you can do

If you are a victim of, or a witness of anti-social behaviour, there are lots of ways that you can help. Your involvement is vital to assist us in putting a stop to anti-social behaviour.

Keep a Diary

Keep a written record of all incidents in your own language (we can also accept your sheets in another language) as if you were writing a diary.  We need to know:

  • what is happening,
  • when it is happening,
  • what and who is causing the problem (including if possible the name, address or a description of the person)

Once we have the information we can then advise you what we or other organisations can do to help.

Reporting the problem to the Police

When reporting incidents to the police ask for a reference number and the name of the person you spoke to and pass this on to us.

You can contact the Police by calling 0300 123 1212. There are Safer Neighbourhood Teams across the borough. For contact details of the team nearest to you, see the Safer Neighbourhoods information page. In an emergency, dial 999.

Tell us about the person(s) causing the problem

Tell us the names of those who are behaving in an anti-social manner.  If you do not know who they are, take note of what they look like and what they are wearing. These details could help the police and us to identify them.

Noise Nuisance

If the issue is a problem of noise nuisance, you should first try to sort the matter out by discussing the problem with your neighbour. If this does not help, or you feel you cannot approach them, contact us. If the noise occurs at the weekend you can contact the Weekend Noise Team on 020 8583 2222

Support your neighbours

If you see anyone committing acts of anti-social behaviour or racial harassment towards other residents, you could help them by telling us

Talk to us

Tell us what you want us to do. We will only act if you give us the go ahead to do so in writing and you can remain anonymous if you so choose.

In some cases being anonymous is not possible but you can talk to your ASB Officer or housing representative about it. We want to put a stop to ASB and need your help.

Visit your local housing reception and speak to a Duty Officer (excluding the Civic Centre), or Visit the Langdale Centre and speak to an ASB and Tenancy officer. You can also call the Customer Service Centre on 0800 085 65 75.
